Our community

At Ochil Tower School, we work in partnership with agencies and organisations across Scotland to create positive outcomes for our children and young people during their time here and to support their next steps towards adulthood.

By working collaboratively, we can create the best possible opportunities for the children and young people who attend Ochil Tower School.

Our local community

Located in the heart of Auchterarder, Perthshire, we’re proud to be an active part of our local community.

We foster meaningful connections through ever-increasing engagement with:

Community activities & partnerships

Our students engage in local events, work with community groups, and access local facilities, building confidence and social skills.

Shared learning & volunteering

We welcome volunteers and international students who enrich our learning environment and strengthen ties between the school and the wider community.

Local enterprise & sustainability projects

Through initiatives such as gardening, craft-making, and enterprise projects, our students contribute to the local economy while developing practical life skills.

The wider community

Ochil Tower School works in collaboration with a number of local authorities, agencies, and organisations in the residential education and care sector.

By cultivating these relationships, we ensure that each child and young person at Ochil Tower School experiences a supportive, inclusive, and enriching learning environment. Our approach to children and young people is reflected in our commitment to collegiate work and mutual respect amongst all colleagues.

We work closely with:

Local authorities

Collaborating with educational professionals, therapists, and support services to ensure the highest standards of care and education.

Other specialist schools and organisations

Sharing best practices, resources, and expertise with schools and charities across Scotland ensures we continually develop our approach.

Training & professional development

Supporting the development of special education by engaging in professional learning, workshops, and advocacy for children with complex additional support needs.

Our campus

Originally built in 1849, Ochil Tower School began life as a stately home before becoming a private school in the 1960s.

Our seven-acre campus off the High Street in Auchterarder, Perthshire, is surrounded by woodlands, creating a safe and nurturing environment for our children and young people.

The various buildings on-site range from the original Belvidere House, a late-Victorian stately home, to more modern structures. Our classes and residential houses are located across the campus, connected by pathways through our Victorian walled gardens, a pirate ship-themed playpark and an apple orchard.

With rich greenery and abundant space, the campus offers endless opportunities to explore, be active, and have adventures.
